Airefco History

Airefco Founder

John O. Hussa

1957

Airefco, Inc. is an independently owned wholesale distributor of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment, as well as a complete line of parts and supplies to support the HVAC market. The Company also markets and sells specialty products that support their dealer activity throughout their marketing territory. Airefco started doing business in 1957 with Carrier franchised territories in Oregon, Western Washington and Alaska.

1971

In 1971, Airefco was purchased by John O. Hussa and a new era of growth began. At that time, the air conditioning industry was just taking shape in the region and annual sales had reached $3 million. John built his company on a handshake, honesty and integrity. A network of branded dealers was developed in all the larger communities of the Company’s marketing territory; and as air conditioning began to expand into the commercial and residential markets, Airefco’s dealer organization was in place to grow with the industry. In 1982, Airefco acquired the Spokane area Carrier franchise and expanded its sales territory to include Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, Montana and Northern Wyoming.

1983

In 1983, JK Hussa, John’s son, joined the Airefco “family” and in 1988, he worked with his father and was an integral part of the Company being awarded the Bryant line of equipment, with a sales territory in Washington, Northern Idaho, Montana and Northern Wyoming. At the same time, Hadco Supply was created as a division of Airefco, not only as the new marketing arm for the Bryant line in these areas, but also as the primary outlet for all after-market products and universal parts and supplies that support all other brands of equipment in the industry. In June of 1994, John became the Chief Executive Officer and JK earned the title and role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Airefco.

1999

In July of 1999, Airefco acquired the assets of Nor-Air, Inc., which had been distributing the Bryant line of equipment in the Portland franchise territory for over 30 years. By acquiring Nor-Air, the Company was able to consolidate this new Bryant territory into their existing market area. In 2003, the Company was awarded the Bryant distribution rights in Southern Oregon and parts of Northern California culminating a 20 year process of having the same Carrier and Bryant franchised territories of distribution for Airefco.

2006

In January of 2006, John passed away and JK became Chief Executive Officer, as well as continuing in his role as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company.

2010

In October of 2010, the Company discontinued using the Hadco Supply and Nor-Air names and began using only Airefco, Inc. in all areas of the business. The Corporate office is located in Tualatin, Oregon with sales branches and warehouses also located in Medford, Tigard and Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Fife, Kirkland, Spokane and Kennewick, Washington; and Billings, Montana.
